My friend Sandy, your fellow salsera trains for triathlon.
You go to salsa class and meet all these people. But what do you really know about them?
Its amazing who you meet. From doctors to lawyers, to teachers and construction workers. Salsa brings all kinds of people together.
You can imagine how cool it was to receive an e-mail "Guess what I’m doing on June 22nd.." and find out that my friend Sandy is competing in an Olympic distance triathlon!
What does that mean? 0.9 miles swimming, 25 miles biking and 6.2 miles of running, that’s what! I can only imagine doing that myself.
She describes herself as a regular "Joe" (or should we say Joette?) and tells me that if she can do it, so can you. She is involved in a 4 month training program with professional coaches and workout schedules to prepare her for this Olympic feat.
This triathlon is special because this salsera is not just doing this to compete, but to raise $3000 for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is a national voluntary health agency dedicated to curing leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and improving the quality of life for patients and their families.
At least 76% of these funds will go directly to the cause while the balance will cover the costs of running the Team in Training charitable society.
Her goals are to "one, cross the finish line of the Philadelphia Insurance Triathlon on June 22nd, 2008, and two to raise $3000 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society by May 1, 2008."
Please help Sandy reach her goal as this salsera trains for triathlon. Your donation is tax-deductible and NO DONATION IS TOO SMALL. You can donate online by visiting
