So long as there are salsa dancers, there will be salsa performance groups. Unlike social dancing, these groups put together a performance that is choreographed by the best dancers in the area.
Most of the moves and patterns are actually leadable, but some things are totally choreographed and will not work in a social setting.
Its important to note that some moves that you may see are not safe to do at a regular dance and should not be attempted if you and your dance partner are not familiar with them. Some examples of things not to do are neck drops, big dips and tricks.
There are a number for performance groups in the Philadelphia, Southern New Jersey Region like Art in Motion, Kids Con Estillo, Mas Estillo, Muevete, Onda Latina, and Ritmo Latina
I’ll be updating this page soon to get you familiar with them.
