Arren's Salsa Dancing Journal

Salsa Dancing Journal
July 1, 2006 1:00 AM

Nothing new to report for today. Just wanted to give an update of some things to expect on this website.

I'm going to be going to Vegas soon, so hopefully I'll get a change to dance some salsa at Rio. Every time I've been there I seem to miss it.

More new pages are coming. I expect to post some new salsa clubs in the North Jersey area and in Maryland. I'll also put up a salsa events page so that you can keep up to date on the major salsa events.

Slowly but surely, I'll have beginner's guide completed. I just added another page tonight.

Here's the thing that I'm excited about. I just downloaded the salsa track that I'm going to use for the salsa demo video I'm planning. I'll show you a demo of what salsa dancing looks like, and then I'll show you all of the basic moves.

So keep coming back for updates!

Tonight's salsa agenda: Atrium Dance Studio Latin Party !

Ahh. Back from the Atrium party! Didn't get back home until about 3:00 am.

Even though the room wasn't as full as usual, there were still more than enough different women to dance with.

I love dancing with the new salsa babies. There were a few new beginner dancers that night. If you can lead a new dancer to do moves that they haven't seen before, then that means you are a good leader. If they are not able to follow you, then that means you may be doing something wrong. Pay attention to what you were doing when things went awry. If you are unsure of what you did wrong, ask the women where it felt like she was asked to go or asked to do. If they got the wrong message, most likely it was your fault..

So guys.. Pay attention to your woman.

I dance practically all night and stayed until they closed up shop. I'm glad I stayed because I got the pleasure of meeting Willie Torres! He is the producer for WT Productions. He has produced and organized all the major salsa events in Philadelphia. Please read Cathy's article about Willie Torres for more information.
