Lessons Learned
3:00 am - Yawn! Another night another salsa dance. I went to the Stardust Ballroom tonight for the Latin dance. It was about 10 pm when got there and there was hardly anyone there.

My friend Davina had gone there early. I tried calling her on her cell phone, but I think she had put it in her bag. So I just shrugged it off, paid my $12 to get in. It was a little ridiculous because Stardust is a HUGE ballroom and it was practically empty.

So we decided to go to the Salsa Congress dance instead. Apprantly, out of all the nights for the social salsa congress dances, Saturday is supposed to be the hottest night.

Of course I tried to get my money back from the Startdust ballroom, but they wouldn't give it back. How lame. Other places would've given me my money back. Thumbs down to the lady at the desk.

Anyway. Davina and I cut our losses and got to the Double Tree hotel for the Salsa Congress. So that's where everyone was! It cost $30 to get in. A little steep, but well worth it for a good time. Sometimes you've just got to pay to play.

I THOUGHT I had $100 just the other day. Make this another expensive weekend. I'm just glad Rock Lobster is free tomorrow.

All the hottest dancers made it to the dance tonight. Eli Torres a.k.a. Prince of Salsa was there. I actually saw him dancing again. He was king of the dance floor again showing his stuff off to the side. There was a group of people gathered around to watch.

I think what made Eli's dance interesting was that he was dancing with a girl who looked about 7 years old. It was amazing because she danced as though she had been dancing for years... And to top it off, she was extremely good. Some of these kids must've started dancing salsa in their mother's womb! That's the only explanation I can think of.

So what's the lesson I learned from tonight? If there are two hot places to go to at night, I should listen to my friend Brett. If I listened to her, I could've saved myself $12 and gone to the better dance instead. I guess women can be right sometimes too.
